Not implying that I'm healed yet. Far from it. Obviously it hasn't been a consistent one way path towards healing or where I am at, currently.

As you must be aware of by now, TSW has many trips and turns throughout it's assault on ones body. In the past 39 months my skin and symptoms have fluctuated. However, I seem to be getting more steady with progress as time continues to move forward.

Feeling & looking more normal as each new day begins.

Thanks for viewing

Gary

  1. Hi Gary, I just watched some of your videos on YouTube and they give me a bit more motivation and hope that things are going to get better. It's great to see your skin is now looking like its doing a lot better. Long may it continue!! I'm currently 21 months in to TSW and still flaring etc, I have an unbelievable amount of dry skin in the beard area it's endless!! The dryness just seems to be sitting on top of the skin all around the hair follicles anytime I use any moisturiser or anyhing it always makes the situation worse I was just wondering if you experienced issues in this area mainly the top lip around the mouth. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers mate, ross.

  2. Ross, First off I must apologize for my reply timing. I was on holiday from the 20th of July until the 4th of August and didn't keep my eye on the blog.

How has your skin been doing lately, mate?. Yeah, the dryness around the beard area is horrific, eh?. And yes, the top lip area is annoying when it flares.

Not one for giving out advice with regards to TSW, however, can you tell me more about your skin care routine?, do you smoke? and how does your body react to your diet?.

21 months in is a milestone, Ross. Keep on pushing on my brother.

    All the very best,

    Gary

    1. No worries mate. The skins been a bit of a mess lately to be honest. Yeah, the dryness after a flares unbelievable, it sometimes seems like it's never ending! I don't really have s skin routine, for the last 6 month I was showering twice a day and washing my face only with water but found taking two showers a bit of an inconvenience so around a month ago I cut it down to one and since then Iv noticed the dryness and flares get a bit worse. My skins got so complicated to manage it also produces a lot of oil on my face along with the dryness and any time I apply something to my skin it seems to make the oil even more excessive and irritates the skin so Iv not been applying anything which then I find makes it a bit difficult to leave the house - Iv also been signed off work because of it. I have tried applying different oils to the face but find the normally just burn and moisturisers don't really help either. I don't smoke and the diets pretty clean, I decided to go vegan around 4 months in. I just feel a bit stuck and not sure where to go from here. Cheers for the reply mate, it's appreciated! Hope you had a good holiday. Ross.

  3. Ross, It looks like you are doing everything you possibly can. That's amazing about the Vegan diet. I think you might be on to something with that option.

If you don't mind me asking?, how old are you?. How long did you use for?, and, what strength of the steroids did you use?. Have you had any breaks at all during the 21 months?.

I know it's frustrating, and it seems like it's never ending. Sorry to hear about your job too. When you need to take time off from work I know that you are having a torrid & rough time.

My thoughts and well wishes are genuinely with you Ross. Keep strong. Maybe some good fortune is just around the corner for you.

Remember this isn't your fault. You will be "you" again one day.

    Gary

    1. I definitely think the vegan diet has helped as well. I was first prescribed in 2011, so was using them for around 4 years. Not consistently for the entire 4 years I don't think, but majority of it. They gave me hydrocortisone 1% and eumovate 0.5% those are just the ones I can remember. Yeah, Iv had some breaks, but even with those breaks there's always still been little bits here and there and the dryness has never went away in the entire time - the beard area definitely the worst affected by dry skin. I found when I have been on holiday the sun usually clears the flare up. Weather here in Edinburgh is pretty poor at the moment so that ain't helping either. What did you find the best thing to apply to the skin on the face? Are you having any issues anymore?

      I hope so mate. Ross

    2. Subscribed to a few people on YT who seem to be getting positive results with a strict Vegan diet so it's definitely interesting.

Not 100% yet but tons better than previously. Can live a somewhat normal life now. Here's hoping I've not got much longer to go. I just use Shea butter on the face and other dry spots on my body. But, we're all different, eh?. What works for one person might not work for another.

Yeah the sun and being chilled out whilst away on holiday certainly helps the old skin out.

      Keep trucking on, dude!.

  4. Gary, Many thanks for the post. Many of us who are still undergoing TSW take great cheer from the fact that you're feeling better. So many TSW bloggers seem to fall off the plot after a year or so leaving their readers wondering what happened - did they get through or is the whole TSW process a myth and they're back on the creams. So many thanks for maintaining the up dates. I hope subsequent posts will be the rather boring 'still doing great skin finally healed!'
